New York's groundbreaking Excluded Worker Fund provides monetary relief for certain workers who were excluded from unemployment benefits during the pandemic. New York’s Department of Labor began accepting applications for the state’s groundbreaking Excluded Worker Funds. The Excluded Worker Fund is a $2.1 billion fund established to provide monetary relief for certain workers who lost income due to the covid-19 and people that was excluded from receiving benefits through state unemployment insurance and federal pandemic unemployment assistance.

The Excluded Worker Fund will provide eligible workers with a one-time payment of $15,600 or $3,200, depending on the documentation that workers are able to submit to establish their eligibility. The Excluded Worker Fund, which is the first of its kind in the nation, would not have been possible without the commitment and advocacy of the Funds for excluded workers coalition, of which A Better Balance is a proud member.
